knitting on the go

Chris and I are traveling to the UK for 10 days in April. It won't surprise anyone to know that I'm anxious about how many/which knitting projects to bring with me. There is a drive to/from Houston, the flights (9-10 hours each), time in the airport, etc. etc. etc. Is it better to travel with something that requires attention (a lace shawl?) or something simple that will take a while to complete (a sweater?) or a couple of really boring and portable projects (socks?). All of the above?

Either way I want to finish my Haruni shawl before I leave (so I can gift it to my sister in the UK) and start another one (for myself). I splurged on some Sanguine Gryphon Bugga (colorway: Longhorned Beetle) which is 70% superwash merino, 20% cashmere, 10% nylon. My first cashmere! Yummy! I would also like to finish the Saroyan scarf I'm making so I can gift it to one of my other sisters. Turns out I'm not a fan of the yarn (Shibui Knits Merino Kid) it is really itchy. Is it lame to gift it because I think it is too itchy?

I plan to knit with the London knitters while I'm there, maybe go see some derby. There will be yarn shopping, that is for sure!

I am super excited!
