I'm wearing my new Rose Red hat today. It got damp from my wet hair and now I'm trailing the stench of wet wool/barnyard. I actually like the smell of wet wool but this has a stronger than usual barnyard odor which is a bit disturbing. I actually dated a guy who got this same exact barnyarn smell about him when he hadn't showered in a while. Gross. I wish I hadn't thought of that...

I've been attracted to star shapes in knitting for a while. I started a 14-pointed
Spiderman Blanket (which I'm pretty sure I'm going to frog) and then got interested in a 5 pointed
Starghan pattern. I did a couple of swatches. 5 pointed stars out of Noro Kureyon (various colorways), size 8 needles - alternating skeins on each row for stripes.
Then I had a bit of a vision about this project after looking through all my sock yarn. I found that I had 5+ skeins of one colorway of Kureyon Sock yarn. Came home from work at the beginning of January and cast on for a seven pointed star in Kureyon Sock - 188. Size 4 needles - no stripes - just knitting straight from the skein.
My ultimate vision is a large lap blanket - or maybe something bigger. I think I'm just going to knit round and round on it for a year or so and see what happens. I'm about 1/2 way through the first skein now and I'm liking it so far. This is my favorite colorway of Kureyon/Kureyon Sock (188).

I'm discovered that I'm a total sucker for any knitting with leaf shapes. I'm also working on
Saroyan scarf. I bought one skein of
Shibui Merino Kid (Wasabi) with a Christmas gift certificate from my dad. Webs accidentally sent me a second shipment and instead of just sending it back, I went ahead and paid for it. And thus I had enough yarn for something substantial. I used 1/2 of the first skein for the increases and will use the other 1/2 for the decreases, and one skein for the center.
